While the cast of “Jersey Shore” will still obey the rules of the “guido” lifestyle (gym, tan, laundry), there will be a whole new set of rules that the reality TV stars will have to obey when they venture to Florence for the show’s fourth season.

The mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, has made a list of rules that Snooki & Co. will have to follow while they are “on the other side” of the Atlantic:

The rules, listed in the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, are:

– The cast will not be filmed in bars and clubs that serve alcohol.

– The cast will not be filmed drinking in public.

– The show will not be filmed to promote Florence as a drinking town.

– The show should be filmed in a manner to promote Italy (not Americans visiting Italy) and feature it’s culture and good food.

In addition to these strict guidelines, Renzi has banned the show from filming in the city’s historic buildings, but admitted that he “could not ban them from using the city (Florence) as a set.”

Renzi’s guidelines are only the latest hurdle that MTV and the cast has had to overcome with regards to the “Jersey Shore” heading to the motherland.

It has been reported that as the show has begun to air in Italy, citizens have voiced their outrage and do not want the “Shore’s” guidos and guidettes running amok in their country.

“They embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized,” columnist Roberto Del Bove lamented in the Rome newspaper New Notzie last month.

In addition to the anti-“Shore” sentiments, filming was delayed due to contract disputes with the cast and production issues regarding location. The show is now set to begin filming sometime next month.

Currently set to embark on season 4 of the wildly popular MTV reality series, Pauly D also doubles as a DJ – recently scoring a resident gig at the Palms Casino resort in Las Vegas. With a Sin City residency, hit show and worldwide fame as both a DJ and TV star, could a move to G-Unit help bolster his career even further?
It is no secret that 50 Cent has embraced the club music sounds that Pauly D is known for spinning and the rapper has been experimenting with the pop and dance sound, most recently with G-Note Records artist Hot Rod on the track “Dance With Me.”

Pauly D releases a single via Universal Republic Records titled “Beat Dat Beat” last year which did chart and with all of the buzz that already surrounds him, a G-Unit or, more specifically, a G-Note pairing would make sense if for no other reason the G-Unit record subsidiary label is primarily focused on pop, dance and R&B music.

As this scene unfolds, 50 Cent and Pauly D will have to face questions soon enough, although neither gentleman has come forth to confirm or deny the supposed talks.

One Life to Live debuted on ABC in 1968, and two years later came the premiere of All My Children. Despite their iconic status and numerous Daytime Emmy nominations and wins over the last four decades, ABC has announced that at the end of this season, both soaps will be cancelled.

Why are the shows getting the axe after all these years? Blame high production costs, waning viewer interest … or, more specifically, blame Snooki.

In ABC’s official announcement about the cancelled soaps, the network claims to be focused on changing daytime television to better match what viewers want. They plan to include more programming focused on transformation, food, and lifestyle—shows that are patterned after “authentic” shows like The View.

In other words, no one wants fiction anymore. Reality programming has seeped into every aspect of entertainment, and it’s putting television workers out of a job.

Hundreds of salaried workers and thousands of freelancers will be out of work when ABC’s soaps go off the air, and their career possibilities don’t look good. Reality shows are cheaper to produce, and people love them—not only that, but with the dwindling amount of non-reality programming, movie stars are starting to take over the roles once left to television actors.

I wouldn’t say I’m personally affected by the cancellation of One Life to Live and All My Children, but I wonder what we’ll all be watching 10 years from now. Will there be any scripted, acted, produced, non-documentarian-style television left to watch? I have a dark vision of a lineup that includes 50 showings per day of Teen Jersey Mom: Guido Babies.

As if that weren’t enough of a perk, Snooki, The Situation and the rest get to film the third (and possibly final) season of Jersey Shore in Italy. Sure, Italy might not be happy about it, but since when have the Jersey Shore kids cared what anyone else thinks?

Of course, the money the cast makes from their reality show is only a drop in the bucket compared to what they make for  various appearances, fashion lines and book deals. Snooki reportedly earned US$32,000 for an appearance at Rutgers University recently, while the Hollywood Reporter claims The Situation earns somewhere around US$5-million a year.

All eight Jersey Shore castmembers have finalized their contracts and are set to film the reality show’s fourth season in Italy.

“Everybody signed last night,” a source close to the production tells E! News.

So when will Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrento and the rest of the gang head to the motherland?

The cast was prepared to go this week, but are now being told they will hopefully be leaving in the next two to three weeks.

“Production wasn’t ready to go,” the source explains. “They didn’t have a house. They were going to shoot in one city, and then that didn’t work out, so now they’re scouting another city.”

As for rumors about contract hold-ups, the source says, “They all knew they were going to sign, it was just a matter of fine details. They all wanted to make it work—if things were all set up over there, then they would have signed sooner.”

One detail that needed to be ironed out? The length of their stay in Italy.

Seems our Jersey-loving guidos prefer their boardwalk as homebase better than any exotic locale—so, according to the source, producers may now make the trip a vacation rather than an extended stay, and film the rest of the season back in Seaside Heights.

The other good news: They get to spend it shooting next season in Italy.

And the bad news is … actually, for the Shore cast, there is no bad news. Didn’t you read the above? The cast is being paid a massive amount of money to get drunk and screw around in Italy. For the Shore stars, there is no downside.

As has been reported, the eight-member cast has just finished their salary negotiations. Multiple sources close to the matter tell EW the deal has members of the “core group” now pulling down at least $100,000 per episode, especially once you factor in their bonus structure. Each season is usually 13 episodes. (MTV had no comment.)
That’s a quantum leap for a group that once made headlines by haggling a raise to $10k per episode for season 2. And, of course, the per-episode salary from MTV is only part of the group’s income, with appearances and product endorsements tacking on additional large sums. (One tally puts The Situation’s annual income at $5 million.)

Regardless of what you might think of Snooki, Sitch and Co., they’re not pulling a robbery — on the balance sheet, they’re worth the money. Jersey Shore is like the American Idol of basic cable, delivering huge adult demo numbers that are higher than many, if not most, broadcast shows. The season in Italy, which starts shooting in May and already has the locals lining up to criticize the show, could bring the series to a whole new level.
