While the cast of “Jersey Shore” will still obey the rules of the “guido” lifestyle (gym, tan, laundry), there will be a whole new set of rules that the reality TV stars will have to obey when they venture to Florence for the show’s fourth season.

The mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, has made a list of rules that Snooki & Co. will have to follow while they are “on the other side” of the Atlantic:

The rules, listed in the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, are:

– The cast will not be filmed in bars and clubs that serve alcohol.

– The cast will not be filmed drinking in public.

– The show will not be filmed to promote Florence as a drinking town.

– The show should be filmed in a manner to promote Italy (not Americans visiting Italy) and feature it’s culture and good food.

In addition to these strict guidelines, Renzi has banned the show from filming in the city’s historic buildings, but admitted that he “could not ban them from using the city (Florence) as a set.”

Renzi’s guidelines are only the latest hurdle that MTV and the cast has had to overcome with regards to the “Jersey Shore” heading to the motherland.

It has been reported that as the show has begun to air in Italy, citizens have voiced their outrage and do not want the “Shore’s” guidos and guidettes running amok in their country.

“They embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized,” columnist Roberto Del Bove lamented in the Rome newspaper New Notzie last month.

In addition to the anti-“Shore” sentiments, filming was delayed due to contract disputes with the cast and production issues regarding location. The show is now set to begin filming sometime next month.

All eight Jersey Shore castmembers have finalized their contracts and are set to film the reality show’s fourth season in Italy.

“Everybody signed last night,” a source close to the production tells E! News.

So when will Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrento and the rest of the gang head to the motherland?

The cast was prepared to go this week, but are now being told they will hopefully be leaving in the next two to three weeks.

“Production wasn’t ready to go,” the source explains. “They didn’t have a house. They were going to shoot in one city, and then that didn’t work out, so now they’re scouting another city.”

As for rumors about contract hold-ups, the source says, “They all knew they were going to sign, it was just a matter of fine details. They all wanted to make it work—if things were all set up over there, then they would have signed sooner.”

One detail that needed to be ironed out? The length of their stay in Italy.

Seems our Jersey-loving guidos prefer their boardwalk as homebase better than any exotic locale—so, according to the source, producers may now make the trip a vacation rather than an extended stay, and film the rest of the season back in Seaside Heights.

The other good news: They get to spend it shooting next season in Italy.

And the bad news is … actually, for the Shore cast, there is no bad news. Didn’t you read the above? The cast is being paid a massive amount of money to get drunk and screw around in Italy. For the Shore stars, there is no downside.

As has been reported, the eight-member cast has just finished their salary negotiations. Multiple sources close to the matter tell EW the deal has members of the “core group” now pulling down at least $100,000 per episode, especially once you factor in their bonus structure. Each season is usually 13 episodes. (MTV had no comment.)
That’s a quantum leap for a group that once made headlines by haggling a raise to $10k per episode for season 2. And, of course, the per-episode salary from MTV is only part of the group’s income, with appearances and product endorsements tacking on additional large sums. (One tally puts The Situation’s annual income at $5 million.)

Regardless of what you might think of Snooki, Sitch and Co., they’re not pulling a robbery — on the balance sheet, they’re worth the money. Jersey Shore is like the American Idol of basic cable, delivering huge adult demo numbers that are higher than many, if not most, broadcast shows. The season in Italy, which starts shooting in May and already has the locals lining up to criticize the show, could bring the series to a whole new level.

We’re hearing that you’re not very impressed with our self-annoited guidos and guidettes now that their “reality” show is airing over there. As Roberto Del Bove, columnist for Rome’s New Notzie newspaper, put it, Jersey Shore “embodies the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized.” Frankly, your rejection only makes us love you more, and we were already pretty darn impressed what with your pasta, your wine and that fine art stuff. We sure hope that you’ll remember that we also gave you jazz & rock & roll, and overlook this rather unfortunate situation.

As the Jersey Shore cast prepares to fist pump its way onto Italian shores, it seems many of the locals aren’t exactly embracing Snooki and The Situation.

In fact, Italians are comparing the gym-tan-laundry loving pack of guidos and guidettes to the “worst stereotypes of Italians,” with one person going so far as to say that Osama Bin Laden “had a point” in attacking the United States.

Whoa! Why such hard feelings, Italy?

All this anger already and the hit MTV show hadn’t even begun airing in the country until today. But the insult grenades are already being tossed the cast’s way, with Italian columnist Roberto Del Bove dissing the Shore denizens in the Rome newspaper New Notzie.

“They embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized,” he wrote. (Tell us something we don’t already know.)

One commenter on an MTV Italia website offered this little ditty: “When I see this, I wonder whether Osama Bin Laden had a point.”

Bit extreme, perhaps? It’s just entertainment people. Annoying? Yes. Causing America to be deserving of a terrorist attack? Wouldn’t go that far.

Italy’s most widely read daily, Corriere della Sera, described the octet as a group with “slicked hair, exaggerated narcissism, boundless love for the family and outlandish eccentricity.”

OK, that was a bit nicer.

But back to the bashing. Aldo Grasso, a prominent TV critic for the same paper told the Wall Street Journal that he’s “afraid” and that “the image if Italy abroad is already weakened.”

The natives seem to be restless based on the casts’ hijinks at home, involving the police, alcohol and lots of sex during their summers at the Shore, but the network has released few details about what the cast will be up to in their country or even where they will be living.

A well-known Italian talking head had told the Journal earlier this year that the show is “the last thing we need.”

“I’m not worried about the characters feeling out of place,” said Beppe Severgnini.

One place the hard-partying cast will be welcome though is on the club scene. The manager of one of Rome’s most popular nightclubs, Babel, told the Journal that there’s no question that they’ll be letting the cast in to party.

None of this seems to be affecting the cast’s good spirits about the new season though. According to MTV News, they are geared up to go. 

“For some reason, I really want to go on a gondola ride, maybe I’ll fall in love,” said the newest castmember, Deena Cortese. 

Aww come on, Italy, they’re not that bad. Show a little amore!
